PEG Feeding Awareness
Our PEG Feeding Awareness Training course provides nurses, carers and healthcare professionals with the knowledge and practical skills required to safely support people who receive nutrition, fluids or medication through a Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy (PEG) tube. The course covers PEG tube care, enteral feeding, medication administration, infection prevention, monitoring and recognising potential complications.
The training helps staff develop the knowledge and confidence required to provide safe, person-centred PEG feeding care while maintaining dignity, consent and accurate clinical records.
This course covers:
Understanding PEG tubes and why PEG feeding is used
PEG site care, cleaning, maintenance and monitoring
Safe administration of enteral feeds, fluids and medication
Using feeding pumps and managing different feed formulas
Infection prevention and safe PEG tube management
Recognising and responding to PEG feeding complications
Managing common problems such as tube blockages and infection
Consent, patient autonomy and accurate documentation
