Stoma Care Training
Our Stoma Care Training course provides nurses, carers, healthcare assistants and other care professionals with the knowledge and practical skills needed to safely support people living with a stoma. The course covers different types of stoma, stoma appliances, changing and emptying stoma bags, infection prevention, recognising complications and providing safe, dignified and person-centred stoma care.
This course covers:
Understanding stomas, their purpose and different stoma types
Common medical conditions that may require a stoma
Stoma anatomy and essential principles of stoma care
Stoma appliances, including selecting, emptying and changing bags
Infection prevention and safe stoma care procedures
Recognising and managing common stoma complications
Identifying and resolving common stoma care problems
Accurate documentation and record keeping
Person-centred stoma care, dignity and patient wellbeing
