Venepuncture & Cannulation Training
Our Venepuncture & Cannulation Training course provides healthcare professionals and clinical staff with the knowledge and practical skills required to safely perform venepuncture and peripheral IV cannulation.
This hands-on training covers relevant anatomy and physiology, equipment, infection prevention, aseptic technique, site selection, patient safety and the recognition and management of common complications. Participants develop their practical skills through simulation-based training.
This course covers:
Venepuncture (phlebotomy) and peripheral IV cannulation
Vein anatomy and physiology, including site selection
Venepuncture and cannulation equipment and preparation
Infection prevention and aseptic non-touch technique (ANTT)
Safe venepuncture and IV cannulation procedures
Patient communication, informed consent, comfort and dignity
Recognising and managing complications, including haematoma, infiltration and syncope
Practical skills practice using simulation equipment
